SME BPOs in the Philippines to Create 30M Potential Jobs
Small and medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) BPOs in the Philippines (business process outsourcing) could create 30 million jobs to boost economic growth. Around 30 million jobs could come from SMEs in BPO as long as the industry remains globally competitive.
IBPAP executive director Nicki Agcaoili explained that both the industry and its employees must work together to meet this challenge.
“I think it is of utmost importance to not restrict yourselves when it comes to incentivizing your employees…The best thing to do to keep that momentum is to provide them with incentives that are tailored to fit their needs…More than anything, investing in trainings is also another key. We have to support them so they can continually learn,” he added.
Adaptability of the Workforce in BPOs in the Philippines
The Philippine BPO industry is also propped up by the adaptability of its workforce. Collaboration among employees, companies, stakeholders and other industry players empowers people to start their own businesses and help the industry grow and flourish. Currently, the industry has 851 registered BPO firms that employ around 1.2 million workers.
From its humble beginnings as a call center provider in the early 1990s, the BPOs in the Philippines have matured and cemented its position as a premiere outsourcing destination worldwide not only for voice services but also for more specialized, knowledge-based work.
